The Remote extension sends the PICT files to a remote application (that can be on a remote Mac), using AppleEvents. The target application must be aware of these events.
Because you cannot send AppleEvents from an application that cannot receive them (!), the extension uses a background only application called "Print2Pict remote deamon" to send the events. This application must be on the start-up disk. It will be started automatically if needed.
Because the extension sends a pointer to the PICT file to the application, and not the picture itself, the file must be visible from target application and machine.
The extension will start the remote application if it's on the local machine. This does not work you are printing from the Finder.
